I went to Detroit for one day and got more love from the Facebook crew there than I could ever imagine. Irene Chen Jun wrote to me afterwards, "You truly approach your craft as if every picture you are about to take is going to be the most amazing picture you have ever taken" - which strikes at the heart of what I try to do everyday. At one point I was the only man in a room full of the most remarkable women - all with top marketing roles in the auto world. The room was hot - the AC had conked out - but the energy was electric. My job is to study people's eyes - and the women's eyes in this room were totally focussed, inspired and engaged in both doing amazing work and appreciating how hard it can be. They were not looking down into their devices, they were all looking up and holding onto every word from the speakers like Colleen Decourcy (who is totally amazing) and Stephanie Smeriglio Latham (who is also opening all kinds of doors). I love when any group gets together and empowers each other. These women are so incredibly passionate in a world that can be cold and unforgiving. I was a witness. Facebook organized the service. Everyone left having felt the spirit. Amen.
