Healthcare shootings have been in the mix of my work for years. While this work is not really what I am best known for, I have met more interesting people doing it, seen more of the world, and been allowed to humanize and bring to life subject matter which often not appreciated for how incredible it really is. My clients and all the many Healthcare profressionals and their massive network of suppliers have enriched my work in so many ways, allowing me to create libraries of images that always focus on the human side of all the incredible medical technology.
The goal of the entire heath industry is the core reason it exists - to help us live healthier, happier, and longer lives. Beyond all the money, the politics, the insurance - I have gotten to photograph the people who work so hard everyday to make us better.
I have photographed Healthcare assignments all over the world - from latex glove factories in Thailand to hospitals in Belgium, Italy, Canada, and all over the US. I have shot in medical research facilities in Germany, distribution plants in France and England, nuclear pharmacies in California, cardiology clinics in Rhode Island, chemo clinics in Nashville, and pediatrician offices in Columbus. I have shot pharmaceutical ads in NY and home care in San Diego. And yet, when I was shooting outside a hospital in New Orleans and accidentally stepped on a mound of red ants - I was on my own to free myself of all those nasty creatures.
