In 2007, I spent Labor Day under the diving platforms at our local community pool shooting up as bodies jumped and sailed and floated from the sky. As the summer ends, and Labor Day closes the pool, I get increasingly anxious to hold onto the joy and magic of summer. I spent several afternoons the beginning of September, 2009 again looking skyward. These images were inspired by a teacher of mine at RISD, Aaron Siskind, who shot bodies suspended in air in the mid 1950s for a project entitled, "The Pleasures and Terrors of Levitation."
