A police officer uses pepper spray on an Occupy Portland protestor at Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland on Thursday. Demonstrators blocked an intersection and caused some banks to temporarily close during the rally.
When I was in tenth grade there was an anti-war rally at the University of Pittsburgh. I skipped school that day and went to the protest. I listened to really smart people talking about alot of things that sounded reasonable to me. I felt important there. I felt involved. When I went back to school the next day, my social studies made me stand up in front of the class. He asked where I had been yesterday. I told him. He was trying to humiliate me. I told him I had learned more at the rally in one day than my entire time in high school so far. I sat down.
