I was drafted for a panel discussion on "Beauty" last Saturday night in Boulder. In the process I found this photograph of Sophia Loren doing her makeup for a shoot I did with her.
I had rented an Italian villa in Beverly Hills to shoot for Allure. Sophia came in alone, wrapped herself in a towel, then sat down to work on one of the most beautiful canvases ever created. When she was ready, we picked out a dress by Todd Oldham - and for fun, strapped on a leaf blower. The idea was to show how one of the most beautiful and lovely women in the world making a backyard task as elegant as she is.
We had a grand feast after the shooting, linen napkins and all. When Sophia did her lipstick after lunch, she pressed them to a napkin making a perfect imprint. I had her sign it - the only autograph I have ever asked for my entire career.
For the holidays I am offering a very limited edition of 5 16x20 prints of each image. With each order will also receive a signed copy of my book, “The Unforgettable Photograph.” You can see the offer here:http://www.langestudio.com/sophia-loren/
